School reopening for Grades 6 to 12
At The Indian Public School - Salem, food and nutrition are an integral part of the learning experience, not an add‑on. Our Food & Beverage team provides safe, nutritious, culturally inclusive meals with balanced menus that blend Indian and international cuisines.
Through transparent menu planning, food‑waste monitoring and active engagement with students and parents, we support wellbeing, classroom focus and lifelong healthy habits.
Meal programmes & menu planning
Students experience balanced daily meals through thoughtfully planned menus that mix Indian home-style cooking with diverse international options.
Menu options for every age
All learners receive veg and non‑veg options, age‑appropriate servings and allergy‑aware preparation for safe, inclusive meals.
Food safety & hygiene
Students receive meals prepared under strict FSSAI standards, by trained staff in carefully monitored kitchens to ensure consistent safety and hygiene.
We provide breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks every day, along with full support for special events and field trips. Our Food & Beverage team plans weekly and monthly balanced menus, blending Indian and international cuisines and emphasising fresh, seasonal ingredients so students enjoy variety as well as nutrition.
Our menus include both vegetarian and non‑vegetarian options, and are designed to respect cultural and religious preferences across our community.Every meal is planned with age‑appropriate portions and balanced nutrition in mind, ensuring the right mix of proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins. Preparation is allergy‑aware and food waste is monitored to encourage responsible eating habits.
Food safety underpins everything we do. We strictly adhere to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) practices, use temperature‑controlled storage and follow rigorous hygiene and grooming protocols for all staff. Our kitchen team is medically cleared and well trained, with ongoing upskilling through FoSTaC and external training programmes. Strong quality control, stock management and partnerships with approved vendors help us maintain consistent standards of safety and reliability every day.
Learners help shape the food experience at TIPS through nutrition education, student leadership, real-life entrepreneurship and close collaboration with families.
Through our Food and Beverage team, learners experience nutrition as a practical, engaging part of school life. Expert sessions help students understand what makes a balanced meal, how food choices influence energy, concentration and long‑term health, and why safe kitchen practice matters.
Industrial kitchen visits, cooking classes and bakery sessions give them the chance to see professional preparation in action, try simple recipes and work with ingredients first-hand.
Student voice sits at the heart of the TIPS food journey. A dedicated Students’ Food Committee gathers feedback on menus and dining experiences, shares ideas with the Food and Beverage team and helps shape food‑related events across the year.Learners take the lead in theme‑based food days, Moonlight dinners, Thanksgiving celebrations and the Papa Chef event, where they help plan dishes, design stalls and encourage peers to try something new.
Food programmes at TIPS provide powerful opportunities to develop entrepreneurship and everyday life skills. Through student‑led food stalls, kitchen exposure programmes, service support roles and Aram Canteen involvement, learners help plan, prepare and serve food within a structured, supervised environment. They work in teams, handle simple transactions, manage time and understand the importance of quality and hygiene.
Strong partnership with families ensures that food and nutrition remain transparent, inclusive and aligned with students’ needs. Menus are shared through the school portal so parents can see what their children are eating each day, while open kitchen visits and food tasting sessions offer a direct view of how meals are prepared.
Parents can share suggestions and concerns through clear feedback channels, which are regularly reviewed by a dedicated Food Committee that includes parents, school management and the Food and Beverage department.
